I was watching Chinese news in English on television right after the quake, including business news, and heard a story about the IPO of a cement company, based in Sichuan. I thought I'd buy some shares, more out of sentiment than wanting to profit. I decided to donate whatever was there in one year to PI, or if I might get to go back to Wolong some day, directly to the center. There was a story about cement companies in China in the WSJ yesterday. I read the story once, but when I went back, I had to pay to get access. It was talking about how cement would be needed to rebuild Sichuan, but there were factors that might make the cement companies less profitable than you'd think. Anyway, it'll be fun to watch my shares for a year and hope for the best.
